Part 2: Seiverkot renewed cabling before Provinssi festival – Reka Cables as a long-term partner

Festival behind the scenes

Seiverkot and Reka Cables have worked closely together for nearly 20 years. Based in Seinäjoki, Finland Seiverkot is responsible for electricity distribution in its area and carries out about 40 kilometers of cabling annually – both for new construction and renovation needs. In addition, the company builds street lighting networks, around 300 lighting points per year.

“We deliver the cables to our warehouse already in winter to ensure sufficient material for the summer. This guarantees security of supply and also enables quick repairs if something happens,” says Maintenance Engineer Ilari Favorin from Seiverkot.

The growing electricity demand in Seiverkot’s network area – partly due to data centers and crypto miners – has influenced cabling needs. “We haven’t increased conductor sizes, but instead we use double cabling. Reka Cables’ products have served these needs very well,” Favorin explains.

Cabling work is carried out with care: all cables are ducted, and protective sand is added. “The guys do this as if it were for themselves – since the same people also handle any potential faults, the quality of workmanship remains high,” Favorin notes.

According to Favorin, it is important for Seiverkot to use domestic and local solutions: “For example, the distribution substations come from about 30 kilometers away, and Reka Cables’ products arrive from Riihimäki, Finland around 200 kilometers away.”

In the Törnävä area, Seiverkot recently carried out a major renovation of the park lighting network, replacing the entire system from cables to poles. The cabling was done using Reka Cables, and the work was completed just in time for famous Provinssi festival – where, naturally, Seiverkot provides the electricity.
