It’s Energy Saving Week! Here’s how Reka supports energy education and manages energy

The national Energy Saving Week is celebrated from October 6–12, 2025 in Finland, and Reka Cables is participating. We support energy education by donating Hei, kaikki toimii! (“Hey, Everything Works!”) teaching material packages to schools in Riihimäki – specifically to Peltosaari and Uramo schools.
Energy Saving Week has been held in Finland since 1996 and annually gathers hundreds of participants. The week challenges companies, communities, municipalities, organizations, housing cooperatives, and educational institutions to improve energy efficiency in their operations and to spread the message further. The week is coordinated by Motiva, the state-owned sustainable development company, and enabled by the Energy Authority.
Reka promotes energy education in schools
As part of the campaign week, second-grade students in primary schools study energy using the Hei, kaikki toimii! teaching material. It introduces the concept of energy, production methods, smart energy use, and saving in a simple and fun way. This year, we are donating the materials to Peltosaari and Uramo schools in Riihimäki.
The theme of Energy Saving Week this year is: Control your energy! At Reka, energy use is managed in many ways. Our methods include:
- Monitoring the consumption of different energy sources.
- Conducting an energy audit.
- Investing in energy-efficient equipment.
- Advising staff on energy-efficient practices.
- Controlling heating and ventilation based on actual needs.
- Utilizing automation and smart control systems.
- Using motion sensors and LED lamps for lighting.
- Minimizing heat leaks.
- Installing solar power plants at both factories.
- Converting all company vehicles to electric, with the last forklifts currently being electrified.
- Treating energy management as an ongoing activity.
