Cables for network construction

By building power networks that are more resistant to extreme weather and demanding conditions, we can ensure that society maintains its operating capacity.

The use of medium- and high-voltage cables enables the transfer of power networks underground, which has proven to be a reliable method of avoiding any power failures caused by storms. In Finland, medium- and high-voltage cables are mainly used to build weather-resistant networks and to improve the reliability of networks.

The extremely reliable medium-voltage cables are used in the industry, power production, power transfer  and distribution, and at wind farms. Medium-voltage cables are also used in public transportation infrastructures, for instance to power up train and metro lines.

In Finland, high-voltage cables are mainly used to build municipal networks and to improve the reliability of networks. The use of these cables enables the transfer of power networks underground, which prevents power failures caused by storms. In addition, transferring networks underground allows the land area to be used for other purposes.

If required, our medium- and high-voltage cables can be made of special plastics. As these cables have a fire rating, they can also be installed indoors and in tunnels.
